The ECW Bridge Group is up and running. The group meets on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in the Sixth Grade classroom. For more information contact Mollie through the Church Office (201-444-2299 or firstname.lastname@example.org).
After The Grace: Food, Fellowship & Feeding the Flock
The second order of cookbooks has arrived! Pre-ordered cookbooks can be picked up on the tables in the Parish Hall. If you did not order one but would like to, you can purchase one in the office ($25 per book, check made payable to “St. Elizabeth’s Church” with “Cookbook” in the memo area). Proceeds benefit women and children's organizations in the local area.
The cookbook is out with over 250 recipes from parish cooks! All proceeds will go directly to Apostle's House, New Hope Ministries, North Porch and Patch at The Prison Ministry.
“Dress for Success” Collection Continues
We continue our collection of clothing for women to benefit “Dress for Success,” a national charity that helps disadvantaged women get back into the work force by providing clothes suitable for interviewing. We are also able to contribute men’s clothing as well. Donations may be brought to the coat racks in the hallway that is just past the Chapel on the left.
Donations for the Midland Park Thrift Shop
Don’t forget the Midland Park Thrift Shop at 85 Godwin Avenue in the King’s Shopping Center while spring cleaning and clearing out clothes, small household appliances, children’s toys, books, magazines (within a year of publication), dishes, pictures, frames, toys…the list is endless!
Please mark your donation bags with #4 for St. E’s and drop off any Monday or the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
If you have any questions about what items the Thrift Shop will accept or about volunteering at the shop, please contact the Church Office (201-444-2299 or email@example.com).
Have you thought about learning to knit, needlepoint, do counted cross-stitch, or crochet? Well, come join us and we will help you learn one of these interesting hobbies. The ECW Needlecraft Workshop meets on Thursdays at 10 a.m. in the Committee Room. Our goal is to make items for the ECW Christmas Boutique held in early December. In the past we have made felted handbags, knitted and crocheted scarves, baby blankets and clothing, sweaters, and needlepoint ornaments. We particularly welcome new ideas. All proceeds go to charities for women and children.
In addition, the Rev. Joan Conley leads an informal Bible study, usually on the Gospel reading for the upcoming Sunday. A light lunch follows.
If you have any questions, please contact the Church Office at 201-444-2299 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Other ECW Events
Women's Group Luncheon
St. Elizabeth's women's groups have a joint luncheon each year in February in the Parish Hall. The Needlecrafters, Moms Group, Book Group, Altar Guild, and ECW gather for lunch from 12-1 p.m. Childcare is provided
Lenten Book Group
The Rev. Joan Conley leads the Friday Book Group discussion for the season of Lent.
Annual Winter Coat Drive
Coats in good, gently used condition are collected for The Apostles’ House in Newark and St. Paul’s Shelter in Paterson. Women’s, men’s, and children’s coats and winter jackets are gratefully accepted. Hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, and warm boots in good condition are also needed.
Christmas Gifts for the Men’s Rooming House at Apostle’s House
The Men’s Rooming House has accommodations for 12 men; some have been residents of other institutions and some are employed but at a very low wage. All of them are either disconnected from their families or have no family members. St. Elizabeth's individuals support them with Christmas gifts, and in some cases these provisions are all that they receive at Christmas. Please watch for the Christmas tree with the names on it and let us help these men to enjoy the season. All gifts are brought to the church and delivered at the holidays.
Annual Holiday Boutique and Greens Sale
ECW's annual holiday fundraiser event is a Greens Sale, along with the Attic Treasures and Bake Sale. Proceeds from these will be donated to outreach charities for women and children.
Annual ECW Linen Drive for Apostles’ House each Spring
Apostles’ House requests single-size bedding, towels, and throws. Linens need not be new, but must be in good condition. Linens for cribs are also needed. Please contact Mollie through the church office with any questions (201-444-2299 or email@example.com).
Valentine's Day Baby Items Drive for North Porch
Our annual Valentine’s Day Baby Items Drive collects baby items, sheets, blankets, clothes (newborn up to size 5, new or in good condition), diapers, baby formula (Similac with iron—liquid if possible), and baby food. Look for specially marked collection baskets in the West Corridor. North Porch is located in Newark, Paterson, and Dover, and we deliver our items to the Paterson location at St. Paul’s Church. Anything not needed there is distributed to the other locations. Any questions, please contact the Church Office (201-444-2299 or info@stesridgewoodorg).
Thrift Shop Volunteer Week
Volunteers are needed each year to staff the thrift shop in Midland Park for five days at the end of June. Two shifts are available: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. St. Elizabeth’s receives funding from this shop to help sponsor our outreach programs. We are asked to volunteer at the store only once a year, but we need to donate clothes and small household articles throughout the year. Be sure your donation is tagged with #4 for St. Elizabeth’s. Please contact the Church Office for more information or to sign up (firstname.lastname@example.org or 201-444-2299).
