The Outreach Committee
Denise Volkommer, Outreach Committee Chair

The St. Elizabeth’s Outreach Committee
supports a diverse array of charitable organizations, many of which are local but some have national and international scope. Irrespective of the people or region benefitted, the organizations exist to help and improve peoples’ lives and the Outreach Committee is committed to provide ongoing support.

Can You Help?

Our blessings as a parish are abundant. St. Elizabeth’s is fortunate to have members to share musical talent, financial expertise, management acumen, legal opinions, artwork, photography, recipes and delicious food. But what do we do to share with others? Those less fortunate who would benefit from the talents of the members of St. Elizabeth’s? Well, it is simple! We can look to the Outreach Committee!

The goal of the Outreach Committee is to advance the work of Christ by sharing the resources of St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church to help those in need. The Outreach Committee is comprised of members of the parish who have an interest in how these funds are distributed to local, national and international charities. The committee’s due diligence assures that we achieve our goal.

The vestry allocates a significant portion of the funds that we distribute to the charities. We raise additional funds during the Evening for Outreach, a fun evening filled with fellowship. Please support the Evening for Outreach by helping with set-up, making a donation and ATTENDING! The Outreach Committee welcomes new members at any time of the year. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Committee Room. We welcome new members and new ideas! Please contact the current chair, Denise Vollkommer, through the Church Office (201-444-2299 or This email address is being protected from spambots. Weekly Food Drive
No need to mark your calendars. Every Sunday morning, as you get the kids out the door, or grab your car keys, take an extra minute to grab a can of soup, tuna, a box of pasta or any other non-perishable food item from your cabinets and bring to Church. Baskets will be in the hallway to collect contributions prior to the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. services. During the offertory (at the 10 a.m. service), a basket of food will be brought up to the altar for a blessing.

Outreach Committee Mission Statement

The goal of the Outreach Committee is to advance the work of Christ by sharing the resources of St. Elizabeth’s Church to help those in need.

In order to achieve this we will pursue the following activities:

-Provide financial and volunteer support to create partnerships with a wide variety of community outreach;
-Assist the needy worldwide by utilizing the resources of the Episcopal Church, where appropriate;
-Inform, inspire and involve everyone at St. Elizabeth’s Church regarding the activities of the Outreach Committee;
-Serve to coordinate, but not control, the outreach activities of other St. Elizabeth’s groups so that collectively we will maximize our contribution and make a difference in the lives of others;
-Demonstrate and strengthen our Christian faith and enrich the spiritual life of St. Elizabeth’s through these efforts.

Funding for the grants disbursed by the Outreach Committee is provided from the St. Elizabeth’s budget, proceeds from the annual Outreach Auction Dinner and individual contributions.

St. Elizabeth's Participates in:

Interfaith Community Blood Drive
St. Elizabeth's and Temple Israel hold the interfaith semiannual Blood Donation Event at Temple Israel in Ridgewood. St. Elizabeth’s and the Temple have shared in this good work for a number of years, both to provide much-needed blood for those for whom it means life, and to bear witness to our common commitment to work together to relieve suffering, to comfort those in distress, and to provide for those in need. This year a number of other congregations in Ridgewood will join this effort.

Dear Parishioners,
The charities that we support and cherish fervently need our help right now. They have been severely impacted by COVID-19 financially and volunteer-wise.

This year, like last, we are asking you to make a donation this month and know it will make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Your contributions will help new mothers by providing money to buy diapers, wipes and formula; homebound elderly by contributing to Meals on Wheels via Community Meals; Emmanuel Cancer Foundation by proving funds for gift cards and counseling for families with children with cancer; New Hope Community Ministries by assisting their food pantry and counseling programs; and St. Paul’s CDC by supporting its food pantry and homeless programs. Please help these organizations by making a donation

In previous years, we have raised as much as $40,00 to assist those organizations that help others. With your love and generosity, we know we can do it again! And we are pleased to be able to offer something new to the parish.

We are excited to announce that the piano and percussion duo, Synchronicity, featuring our very own Garah Landes and his brother, Greg, will perform a benefit concert for Outreach. The date of the concert is October 9. The nature of the event will be determined by CDC and diocesan guidelines. Please save the date as it promises to be a special event!

Please consider making a generous contribution. Our Online Giving Portal may be found as a tab on the webpage on the St.Elizabeth’s website www.stesridgewood.org. Once there, simply enter the dollar amount on the” Outreach Fund” line and enter “2021 Outreach Auction” in the box to the right.

Donors who are paying by check should make them payable to “St. Elizabeth’s Church” and include “2021 Outreach” in the memo area. With your help, we can assist others in these challenging times.

In Christ We Care,
Denise Vollkommer
