The Outreach Committee
Denise Volkommer, Outreach Committee Chair

The St. Elizabeth’s Outreach Committee supports a diverse array of charitable organizations, many of which are local but some have national and international scope. Irrespective of the people or region benefitted, the organizations exist to help and improve peoples’ lives and the Outreach Committee is committed to provide ongoing support. Can You Help?

Our blessings as a parish are abundant. St. Elizabeth’s is fortunate to have members to share musical talent, financial expertise, management acumen, legal opinions, artwork, photography, recipes and delicious food. But what do we do to share with others? Those less fortunate who would benefit from the talents of the members of St. Elizabeth’s? Well, it is simple! We can look to the Outreach Committee!

The goal of the Outreach Committee is to advance the work of Christ by sharing the resources of St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church to help those in need. The Outreach Committee is comprised of members of the parish who have an interest in how these funds are distributed to local, national and international charities. The committee’s due diligence assures that we achieve our goal.

The Vestry allocates a significant portion of the funds that we distribute to the charities. We raise additional funds during the Evening for Outreach, a fun evening filled with fellowship. Please support the Evening for Outreach by helping with set-up, making a donation and ATTENDING! The Outreach Committee welcomes new members at any time of the year. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Committee Room. We welcome new members and new ideas! Please contact the current chair, Denise Vollkommer, through the Church Office (201-444-2299 or info@stesridgewood.org). Thank you!

Teen Outreach

The Teen Outreach Committee was created as a way for the teen members of St. Elizabeth's Church to reach out to the community. We raise money for different organizations and use to take part in different activities hosted by organizations.

Helping those who are less fortunate through outreach is an important part of the church mission, and the opportunity to learn and serve will yield positive benefits to both those individuals and organizations benefitted as well as teen outreach members. In addition, the teens in the congregation who choose to participate will learn valuable life lessons and experience.

Sample Events

Family Promise of Bergen County "Hike or Bike" at Van Neste Square, Ridgewood. Members of the St. Elizabeth's Teen Outreach Committee participate in this event to benefit homeless families in Bergen County. The Family Promise Network provides temporary shelter for working, homeless families with dependent children while they confront the issues that contributed to their homelessness. Please see the brochure posted on the Outreach bulletin board outside of the parish office for further information.

Soles 4 Souls  The Teen Outreach Committee collects shoe donations and gets them ready for pick-up by the supporting organization. Donations of unused or underutilized footwear to this very worthwhile charity can be placed in the basket located in the West Corridor of the Parish House.

Youth Mission Trip

Leftover Halloween Candy collection for the military.

Help with Social Service Association's Thanksgiving Food Drive. Teens help sort and organize Thanksgiving food for needy families.
